Personalise your learner's pathway through their learning experience.
WHY?
A personalised learning plan allows you to personalise the learner's journey. Personalising learner journeys has some great benefits:
-
it can increase engagement
-
it can save your learners time by only having them complete sections they need to complete
-
it can provide the learner with a structured learning pathway that allows them to skip bites/sections that aren't relevant or aren't of interest to them.
Personalised learning plans are great to use for compliance training, refreshers, and self-selecting topics of interest.
An example of a personalised learning journey may be compliance training where different people within an organisation have different sets of skills and knowledge. Personalised learning journeys allow you to hide information from learners who may already have knowledge of a topic or ask other members to explore a topic more in-depth.
Sometimes it helps to see it in action! Follow this link to see a module/experience that uses a personalised learning plan:

WHO?
Personalised Learning Plans are available to Guroo Pro paid users.
HOW?
There are three ways you can use learning plans to personalise the learning experience:
-
Scores/Metrics - for example, if a learner passes a quiz at the beginning of the experience, they can skip some or all of the following bites as they have already demonstrated competence. This is useful for compliance training. You can read more about scores here. To use scores to determine a personalised learning pathway, you MUST have a score/KPI enabled in the Introduction bite of the module.
-
Self-Assessments - for example, using a series of scaled, reflective questions (eg. how confident are you in managing conflict in your team?), content based on the outcome of their reflective questions can be presented to the learner. You can read more about self-assessments here. To use self-assessments to determine a personalised learning pathway, you MUST have self-assessment outcomes enabled in the Introduction bite of the module.
-
Achievements - for example, earning (or not earning) a badge can determine which of the following bites are made available to the learner. Read more about Achievements here. To use badges/achievements to determine a personalised learning pathway, you MUST have the required badges enabled in the Introduction bite of the module.
Set-Up
By default, all new experiences are 'single bite'. To change this setting, and create a personalised learning experience, go to 'Setup' in the top right corner, then 'Data & Structure' on the left menu and using the drop down menu select 'Personalised Learning Plan’ under Learning Models.
Once this happens, a Learning Plan screen will be created. Read more about learning plans and multi-bite experiences and Learning Plan settings.
Rules
When setting up the rules for each Bite in a Personalised Learning Plan, you need to make sure you select Personal for each bite.
Next you need to set the rules for the display of each bite.
-
If your module has scores/KPIs enabled in the Introduction bite, you will be able to use the Green/Yellow/Red outcomes to determine whether each bite following the Introduction is Required, Optional or Hidden for the learner. You will need a rule for each outcome.
-
If your module has self-assessment outcomes in the Introduction bite, you will be able to use each outcome to determine whether each bite following the Introduction is Required, Optional or Hidden for the learner. You will need a rule for each outcome.
-
If your module has badges enabled in the Introduction bite, you will be able to use the earning of the badge (or not earning) to determine whether each bite following the Introduction is Required, Optional or Hidden for the learner.
